Really exciting post!

I was originally looking for video game composer jobs, as music is one of my main passions. I saw on a job listing/volunteer board on Discord that had an offer for being a composer… from February. I went and at least took a look at the game they were making and I was super intrigued! I then connected with the main owner of the project on LinkedIn who is a senior at a game art college, which is awesome. I told them that I loved the artstyle of their game and I can’t wait to see where it goes.

I get a connect and message back saying thanks and noticing that I am a game programmer as well. Then they ask me if I want to volunteer to help them finalize their project and continue working on it after their final presentation, and I was very enthused! Working for someone rather than being my own boss will actually help me a lot in gaining necessary experience for my career in general.

So far, I have written a game balance script using OpenPYXL in Python and I have helped design implementations of new character and level unlocks. It’s a very exciting game and I choose not to spoil any details about it despite the fact that they have an Instagram page and I am not under a NDA.

This is me officially saying that I have found something worth putting on my resume that isn’t just self-produced/university work.
